New Air Source Heat Pump
Installation in Whitstable

Vaillant aroTHERM plus 7Kw with a uniSTOR VIH 200 litre Cylinder

The Brief

A homeowner in Whitstable undertook a major renovation project, transforming their old bungalow into a modern detached house. As part of the development, a new heating system was needed to comply with sustainable building regulations and provide efficient heating and hot water.

Where there's a Wilsons, there's a way...

A Vaillant aroTHERM plus 7Kw with a uniSTOR VIH 200 litre Cylinder air-source heat pump was selected as the core of the heating system, known for its renewable energy use and compliance with modern eco-friendly standards, and new aluminium radiators for rapid heat-up time and energy efficiency, distributing warmth evenly throughout the house. This combination offered a robust, low-carbon solution that met both the functional and aesthetic needs of the project.

The installation process

Since this was a complete rebuild, the old heating system was removed during the early stages of construction. This allowed the heating system design to be tailored to the newly-built house.

The outdoor unit of the Vaillant aroTHERM plus 7Kw was installed in the backyard. Proper positioning ensured optimal airflow and minimal noise disturbance for both the homeowners and neighbours.

Throughout the home, aluminium radiators were fitted. These radiators are known for their quick response times and energy efficiency, helping to create a comfortable living environment while using less energy compared to traditional radiators.

A hot water tank was installed in the garage, connecting directly to the air-source heat pump. By keeping it in the garage, the interior space of the house was optimised for living areas without sacrificing functionality.

The final step involved filling the system with an eco-friendly refrigerant, ensuring that the heat pump would function at its highest efficiency level.

The whole heating system was tested thoroughly to ensure it was running efficiently and meeting the heating and hot water demands of the home. The homeowner received a full demonstration of the system controls and guidance on how to optimise energy usage.

Another successful installation...

This project showcased how a modern, sustainable heating system can be effectively integrated into a newly built home, meeting both environmental standards and the homeowner’s expectations. The use of an air-source heat pump and aluminium radiators provided energy efficiency and comfort, while the strategic placement of the water tank maintained the home’s clean, modern aesthetic. This Whitstable home now stands as an example of how sustainability can be seamlessly incorporated into a modern lifestyle.
